When I was a child in elementary school, migraines were a common problem for me. I used to leave school about 3 times a week with one. It became such a burden that my teachers had to create a space for me out in the school hallway that I could go to when I started to feel a headache come on. This space consisted of a small piece of carpet and pillow in a silent, dimmed area of the hallway. Being a kid I found this very embarrassing, but it was the only way I could stop the “noise” from entering me. I was a quiet child, and very sensitive, and too much of anything would overwhelm me.
Sensitives are people who can be overstimulated by certain environments, they don't usually enjoy busy or loud places, and prefer calming or relaxed environments where they have a lot of personal space and can hear themselves think and enjoy silence. A lot of sensitives are introverts who need personal time to rejuvenate. They are also known as empaths, or in spiritual communities may be called “Clairsentients.”
From an Energy Healing perspective the physical layer of the aura of a sensitive person can extend up to 3 feet from their body in extreme situations. As a comparison, the aura of most people extends about 1 - 3 inches from their body. They may also have a personal tendency to daze off or feel ungrounded.
When unbalanced and burnt out, these people sadly can more easily develop conditions like fibromyalgia, arthritis, and headaches/migraines. Because their energy fields are more open and receptive to outer world, they take the excess energy on as their own and begin to develop quite painful physical conditions. This is something that they are not even aware they are doing.
One of the first things I do with someone who is sensitive is to teach them how to ground their bodies, shield outer world energies, and create a protective energy bubble. This can help with creating personal boundaries for yourself and stop you from absorbing outer world influences. Headache's are common when a lot of energy is being built up in a room, (Ie; like kids in a classroom, shopping malls, or performance areas). When a person or child is feeling light and ungrounded, and a lot of energy is being built up, they can take it on as a physical symptom.
When I was at school, I had the benefit of a physical space that I was able to go to when I felt the overwhelm coming on, but as an adult this is not always possible. What I want to show you, is how you can energetically create an environment around yourself, when you are out and about, and don't have the luxury of a room to hide away in or separate yourself from others.
Follow these simple steps and you can create a bubble for yourself.
How to create a protective bubble
- Ground. Stop what you are doing, close your eyes and take a deep breath in, followed by a complete belly breath out. Sit up straight, and if you are standing, stand with feet hip width apart. Begin to feel your body, the hair on your neck, your feet on the ground. Visualize yourself dropping an anchor deep into the earth, and visualise yourself pouring sand all over your body. You will begin to feel a heaviness, and a sense of peace.
- Wrap yourself up in White light: Visualize a light coming down from the heavens and like a ribbon of light, beginning to wrap around your head and work it's way down your body towards your feet. Then from your feet, begin to feel it wrapping it back up to your head. This white light will absorb any excess negative energy and purify your body. This is great for when you are feeling unsafe in a situation or needing some extra love and support from the divine.
- Creating the bubble: Now picture a bubble enveloping you ( you can decide how big or small you would like this bubble to be). It is here to create a personal boundary. Hold the intention that you claim the energy that is yours, and whatever is not yours is not allowed enter in to your space. This is great for when you need protection, and personal space.
- Relax: Now that you are grounded, wrapped up in white light, and have a bubble around you, you can take yourself back out to the world. You will feel more yourself, and unaffected by the energy of others. It can be quite an empowering experience when you realize that you don't have to avoid situations, and you can do this before walking into a school, hospital, or a meeting. Creating your own personal boundary is a great way to build a relationship with yourself, and allow room to develop relationships with others.
